I Dare You To Fail... And Grow Challenge

creating and making change lasting transformation mindset shift Jul 31, 2024
What's your first thought? Don't sensor yourself, be true here.
What are you telling yourself as you read the words “I dare you to fail”?

What does the thought of failing something feel like in your body?
What are you making it mean if you fail at something?
What if you do fail - what's the worst thing that will happen?

What if you decide to do one thing outside your comfort zone this weekend?
What would you choose to do?

Eating dinner alone during peak hours at your favorite restaurant, walking a three mile hike, baking a soufflé, painting an impressionistic rendition of your dog, fly fishing, horse back riding, coloring outside the lines, ballet class for beginners, tell your child or grandchild you're willing to do one thing they want to do without censorship, tuba lesson, writing a poem, playing a sport you've never played, ice skating, signing up for a cross fit class (and attending)…

This challenge is not a “live like you are dying” challenge, this is not failing forward, this is you doing one thing you THINK you cannot do and doing it anyway.

This is you practicing feeling fear of not being enough and doing it anyway.
This is you giving yourself permission to be perfectly imperfect.
This is you allowing it to be exactly what it is - exactly where you are.
This is you trustung you've got your own back.

Why, you ask…

What if you discover something you enjoy, something you're better at then you ever imagined, something that you want to get better at?

What if you catch a glimpse of courage that's been hiding behind the safety of “comfortable”?

What if you rediscover that failure is the pathway to your success?

What if failing is actually good for you?

It is - it supports your cognitive growth.
Based on what you learn from your failure your brain creates and maintains new neural pathways — that is to say it helps you avoid the same mistakes in the future, expand your capacity, and grow more resilient.

In a nut shell, when you fail - you grow.

I've always wanted to paint. I haven't because I think - what if I'm not creative enough, artistic enough. So…I signed up for a paint class + attending. I'm willing to feel ‘not good enough’, long enough to try something I've always wanted to do and experience what is really true. I'm excited to see what “creation” (tangible and intangible) comes from this experiment.😊🖼️🎨🖌️

How about you??????

Here's to growing from failing!
