Transmitting David Bowie's baritone, sultry voice in my head - the lyrics dance with the salty breeze and collisions of soft, cool wind against my cheeks, remnants of a “cold” Florida winter.
DB wrote what appears to be a simple song about change but it tells a tale of artistic reinvention - looking at ourselves in the mirror and seeing our true identity. For those of you who aren't familiar with DB or this song, take a listen
Changes
I was on my morning coffee walk and this song was running through my mind. With every step, the melodically slow, upbeat rhythm reminded me of the complex simplicity of making change.
“I turned myself to face me, but I've never caught a glimpse”
That's it right there.
That moment you hold up the sacred hand held mirror of truth and are called to live it or let it go. I've had that moment. I've let it it go because I wasn't ready and I've chosen to live it not knowing what adventures were ahead.
Will you purposefully choose to live your truth?
Will you let it go?
Whether you choose yes or no to either question is not as important as making the decision. Holding yourself between yes and no traps you in chaotic mind drama. Decide what you want to do with this awareness. If you are not ready - it just means you're not ready. If this creates hesitation, you can rest assured truth is like a boomerang, it'll come right back to you. It never leaves - it just lies dormant until it reveals itself again. Trust your inner knowing.
Live it or let it go (for now).
This is what I partner with clients to do, live the truth they see in the mirror by making change - big, bold, beautiful change.
If you see a new truth, a life you really want, excellent. Decide if you want to live it. If the answer is yes, the next question is how.
The number one question my clients ask during our consultation is How?
How do I make this change?
It's simple…
One step at a time.
Alas, simple is not always easy.
I invite you to sit with that for a moment.
Marinate in the reality that to get to where you want to go takes commitment to making it happen one step at a time.
Landing a dream career, reaching an extraordinary goal, rebuilding your life after loss does not result from a leap - it is small consistent actions that give you the results. It's the compound effect. It's intentional and strategic. What may look like an insignificant action is the exact action that turns possibility into reality.
I invite you to make a change today, here's how.
